I know my MATHS

I was going through the newspaper and i just found out that the present year-2012 is actually the "YEAR OF MATHEMATICS"
Honestly I am an engineer with poor Maths. It really needs me loads and loads of efforts to know how a question should be solved. Unlike the many Maths Geniuses, it doesn't come naturally to me. Now I would really request the Govt. to please, because this is the year of Mathematics; help students to know and acquire the bigger sense of Mathematics.

Brings us to one and really very critical problem that the education system of our country is presently facing. Practicality or actually the lack of it!!!

We have actually become rotes, who know everything by heart but somehow don't know how to apply that.
I agree with many of my friends who say that we the Indians have strong concepts- a prerequisite for any educational advancement; but what is the use of that when we actually don't know how to apply that.

The problem lies with the step one where we emphasize more on learning but understanding. There is a whole lot of difference between the two which we don't seem to understand.
There is this seemingly upsetting pressure to score well which leaves the students with little time to understand, they just learn.

We say that Indians are the best of the brains in the world, many organisations, even in foreign countries are flourishing because of Indian brains. Sure! I agree; but have you ever thought that with so much of brains in us, why are we working for them and not actually leading them. There is no denying the fact that most of the best researches have actually not been headed by Indians.

The answer to this lies in the simple fact that from our day 1 at school we have learnt to follow instructions and not give them.(Oh now please don't take it literally that you are going to boss over the teacher, because if you try to do that...God bless you is all I can say!!)We are not taught to be the leader, to think out of box.For us 2+2=4 and not 2+2= 3+1

We should know how to apply, education need not only be knowing, it should be understanding too. Study but not to score marks, let gaining knowledge be the reason.

And as "Baba Ranchhordas" ( refer 3idiots) said," mai achha krta hu kyuki muje ye sb achha lgta h"

I guess I made my point!!!
